Texas Rain
Mommy got us in our swimsuits & slathered with sunblock, and we cheered all the way to the kiddie pool! But when we made it all the way out there, the pool was closed because of reports of potential rain. Mommy says that this is the first time that we've visited Texas in July when, instead of the typical scorching summer heat, we've had clouds & rain & mild temperatures! Nice for Daddy & golfing (except for the part w/ rain & lightning), but not so nice for our pool time!
Mommy made up for it by allowing us to play at home! It's a lot more cramped, but it was still lots of fun to play in Grandparent's jacuzzi tub!
You see the fake swimming going on here....
....and what is this we see?
Yes! We're even nicely sharing their water toys together!
Bottle & Bed
Mommy says I've been too lazy about holding my own bottle! I'd prefer saying that I was "comfy" being held & fed by my mommy! But anyways, I guess mommy's finally caught on & lets me hold my bottle by myself now! Time for a quick pic!
Ahhhhhh!! I think there are fewer things better in life than to sleep & be so cute at the same time!
Visiting an old friend
Mommy's corner: I've been saying "no" to Jason SOOOOOOOO much during our trip here, it's been hard for him. As a walking toddler, he's become such a little rascal, a real "boy" spirit. Anyways, right now, he's constantly throwing himself to the ground in mini tantrums, because I'm afraid to let him touch anything at my parents' place!
So it was SOOOOOOOO nice to visit an old friend & her 3 children. Jason could GO anywhere, TOUCH anything, PLAY with everything! It was ALL child-friendly! And he was so much happier that I wasn't constantly thwarting his attempts to play with stuff.
I found my old friend to have such a calm & gentle spirit with her 3 kids. I don't know how she does it.

Thanks so much for letting us come play with you, Auntie Cynthia!
Houston's Children Museum
We're on our way to Family Free Night at the Houston's Children Museum!
I love this place! It's perfect for me!
Learning how to put these things in.
Jeh Jeh Nicole was playing somewhere else with Auntie Amy.

Jeh Jeh is honing her skills as a budding artist.
Working Hard
I'm still working hard here! Now I'm trying to multitask - where's my headset?
What do you think? Do these glasses make me look smarter? I might be ready to climb up the rungs of this corporate ladder & quit doing manual labor!
Ready to Hula!
Our beautiful little girl looks ready to hula!
Playing in the Fast Lane
Playing in a vehicle that had a happy run-in with a wonky zebra. Or at least that's what I like to think.
Jeh Jeh Nicole sure looks like she's in a hurry to zoom off!
Slides are fun!
Hey, it looks like they're really putting me to work now!
Texas Kiddie Pool
We found the neatest community pool ever! The deepest the water gets is 2 feet! Jason could walk the whole thing if he wanted to! There are water spouts, water mist columns, big slides! What fun! I had so many pics that I wanted to share of our poolside fun, that I'm trying out a new thing with Smilebox. Please leave a comment & tell me what you think! Once the Smilebox loads up, there are 10 pictures floating around in the bubbles. Just click on each one to see them more clearly!
Family Time plus McDonald's

Starting the morning off with a nice, gallopin' ride with Gung Gung!

Also starting off the day with a nice, big ol' mess!

Ahhhh, McDonald's! Gung Gung tried to take us to Burger King, but Nicole was quick to point out that it just wasn't McD's! Guess who caved!
Even Jason wants to play!

Watch out! Here I come!
Alrighty, time to get cleaned up before dinner.

A wonderful family dinner together! We even have Tai Gung, Tai Po & GrandUncle John here!
Check Out the BLING
Did'ja see my bling-bling? Bwahahahaha!
Hat-Shades
Look! It's a hat!
No, they're shades! Mmmmmm.....hat-shades??
Texas in July!
Mommy's corner: This year, we decided to visit my family in Texas in July, again. We were actually hoping to visit during a non-summer month, because we enjoyed the weather so much better in December last year than the past July's we had visited. But, I guess it wasn't mean to be!
God bless Uncle Stephen, who helped me check in our luggage & literally got me all the way up to the security checkpoint. Beyond that, I was on my own with the 2 kids, double stroller, 2 carry-ons & 1 car seat. I bet we looked like a real traveling circus. I sort of thought that maybe someone would take pity on a mother traveling alone with 2 young children, but NOOOOOO, nobody offered any help the entire time.
I think it would our travel adventure would have worked out much easier if our flight had left ON TIME. Instead, it was delayed for an hour or two, and I had to do my best to
feed the kids,
entertain them & keep them
contained at our terminal until it was time to board. Which leads me to the next part of my story....
While we were waiting, I told Nicole that we needed to change her diaper, but I had to strap Jason into the stroller first. Nicole gave me a HUGE scare because she disappeared during the time I was working on getting Jason buckled in. It's one of her "things" - avoidance of diaper changes. But still, I was close to
FREAKING OUT when I realized that she was nowhere to be seen. In as calm of a manner as I could, I steadily & loudly called out to her,
"NICOLE, you need to come here right now. NICOLE, Mommy needs you to come out where I can see you. NICOLE, where are you?" Blah blah blah blah blah. I don't even know what I said anymore. I did this for a couple minutes, trying to decide what to do, when I heard someone call out, "
Is that her behind that pole?"
Sure enough, Nicole was hiding behind a very tall & very wide column, about 50 feet away, crouching close to the ground to avoid detection. Let me tell you, if every eye wasn't on me & her at that moment, I think I would have whooped her right then & there. Instead, I stayed as calm as I could & told her that she had lost all privileges to walk by herself & then I put a very
bright, red harness on her. At that point, I did not care what anyone else thought of me, because I was
NOT going to have her leave my side again.

Anyways, we finally made it onto the airplane. Thankfully, I was able to shove this lady out of her seat so that I could make use of the entire row for each of us. Look at Nicole - notice the bright red Elmo harness and, of course, the innocent-looking smile that says, "What did I do?"

Jason was a handful, as expected. Did I mention that he likes to climb? If I let him, he probably would have climbed over the chair into the next row & so on & so forth.

By the time we were able to get off the plane, the kids were absolutely stir crazy! Right now, they're
booking it down the airplane aisle! As you can see, Nicole still has her harness on. But what you can't see is that Jason has one on, too...but his goes around his left wrist & Nicole was holding onto that, since I had to get the 2 carry-ons & the car seat.

BOY WAS I GLAD TO SEE GRANDMA!! YAY FOR PO PO!! WE MADE IT!!
We were so blessed to enjoy a nice meal at Sweet Tomatoes with Auntie Amy & my parents.
So what do you think of Texas, Jason? Are you enjoying yourself so far?
Ummmmm, yah, I think it looks like he's enjoying himself.

Nicole looks like she's definitely enjoying herself, too! I guess what's summer in Texas without ice cream dripping down one's chin??!!?
Random Pics

Mommy's corner: Ahhhhh! The fruit of Chris' labor! Don't these tomatoes look terrific? And they taste as good as they look!
Speaking of labor, Chris installed a new closet system in Nicole's walk-in closet. So, I've been busy trying to organize all her stuff (and some of Jason's stuff, too, since his room doesn't have a closet).
I used ribbon (leftover from my wedding decorations - LOL!) to tie around batches of clothes so that they were more visible & acessible. I wrote on the ribbon to categorize what kind of clothing were in that batch - for example: 4T winter tops.
Chris & I had the luxury of a date night, going to our favorite sushi place - Sushiya! Here you see a spider roll (my favorite roll!), a dragon roll (Chris' favorite roll) and some other sushi - albacore & red snapper, I think. Yummm-o! It was nice to go out together before I headed off to Texas with the kids.
Nicole usually has grandma wrapped around her little finger, playing all night & staying up as late as she can. But tonight, she CRASHED and was asleep like this when we came back! Yay!
